Splendid Hotel Taormina

I stayed one night due to a last-minute visit to Taormina and it was not a pleasant experience at all. Paying a high price, more precise €350 for a four-stars hotel means receiving the type of standards that comes with it, unfortunately that was not achieved, not even a one-star. The room was allocated in the corner which would be an advantage for privacy and noise-free but a part that, the room has different issues which should not be present in this type of environment. Particularly a damaged floor, holes all over the walls and a “crumbling” ceiling which was quite visible as well as naked electrical wires hanging over the bed. The shower had mould and the sinks were not maintained very well (full of limescale). The toiletries smelled and stuck to the skin which is quite irritatable. The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets were not even ironed! (The bed was a combination of two single beds). Also, the bedside light was not working. All the details above have been presented to the receptionist which were justified as “some that our colleagues were missed” which makes no sense. Also, the receptionist was insisting that guests were not complaining and the standards are subjective which I do not agree due to the fact that 4 and 5 stars services are all the same worldwide. The building looks luxurious, well-maintained and bright from the outside but the inside is not the same which is ridiculous. The staff was unprofessional, hiding the tourist tax once we did the check-in. It has been mentioned the parking which was not available so we had to go a couple of miles away from the hotel to leave the car, paying €21 plus waiting for the shuttle which has not time but only every 15 minutes 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ The experience has been ruined due to the bad stay and the insanity of prices and impolite and unprofessional behaviour from the staff.

The door and the walls to the room with a view are so thin that I was woken up by other guests leaving early to the airport every day. My last day, I could hear an alarm at 6, banging drawers at 6:30. Every 30 minutes. It’s my idea of relaxing. It’s unfortunate because otherwise the hotel staff was kind and Taormina is amazing but I will never stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Splendid Hotel Taormina. The room was lovely, the terrace has an amazing view of the sea. It is close to the center of town yet quiet and best of all was the reception. They went above and beyond to make our stay special and you could tell that they truly enjoy hosting and making your stay more pleasant and comfortable and your experiences convenient. We highly recommend Splendid Hotel Taormina. Grazie mille!

Overall it's a nice hotel. The pool area is lovely with a bar. The rooftop restaurant is a must, has lovely unobstructed views and the food is great. The hotel is just away from the main street so you don't hear the noise. The only issue is internal noise, the walls are not as soundproof as you'd expect, if you're unlucky and got a room directly below the breakfast room then you'll hear furniture dragging from 7.30am until 9pm on some nights. Unfortunately they said they were fully booked so we couldn't change rooms. The staff at this hotel is amazing, all so friendly throughout our stay.

We stayed here with a family of five for ten days and we truly enjoyed our stay! The staff is incredibly friendly, polite, helpful and thoughtful and makes the whole experience in this hotel worthwhile. The food is delicious, the service is wonderful, the pool is very nice and quite rare in Taormina, the location is very close to the center (Corsa Umberto) and there is a small supermarket in the same street. The only problem was with our room. My parents had a great and cozy room. Me and my children on the otherhand arrived in room 110 with a broken air-conditioning, two broken outlets and a broken lamp. The air-conditioning was fixed the next day but although we complained, they never fixed the outlets and lamp. The room was already a very dark room to begin with. I read from previous travelers that this room is known for its problems. But for us it was just badluck since in general the rooms are very nice and modern as we saw in my parents room! And the rooms are very clean.
